Umicore’s latest innovation is GASIR®, a molded infrared optic for high-volume applications. GASIR® is a chalcogenide glass, molded into a finished optic with complex geometry, including asphero-diffractive surfaces. Umicore is the world’s largest manufacturer of Germanium products and offers materials, coatings and components for thermal imaging, smart sensing and other infrared optics applications. Umicore Optics has gained substantial experience in the extraction, refining and recycling of Germanium. Umicore Optics produce ready-to-polish germanium blanks, contoured window blanks and Germanium finished optics. Polishing and thin film coating services are also offered. High purity Germanium crystals for gamma ray detection are also available.
